Social Grids first awareness event took place in Geniko Lykeio Afantou on 16 May 2022 in Rodos Island (Greece), we are very thankful to the school headmaster Venetios Thomidis for giving us this opportunity to interact with the students and share with them the necessity to prevent climate change. He himself is trying to make school shift to solar energy and we were very happy to to see his dedication about waste treatment and waste segregation as well. 

There were around 120 students from grade 1 and grade 2 of high school, who participated in the event. The presentation was divided into two parts, first part covered the general information on issues related to energy and climate change and linking it with the development of micro-grids as a solution for island communities to reduce their dependence on diesel generators to fulfill their energy needs. In the second part, a scenario based interactive game was played where students were asked to imagine themselves in future and think of actions they can take now and then to contribute towards solving energy related issues on their island and other islands.
